Hey I've been working with some guys that have a PC based studio and I am using a powerbook. I like to do preproduction on my mac and then i would like to be able to load all my session files, audio files, etc. on my lacie external hd but the pc cant open it. I could get media four's mac drive and install it on the pc but I dont really feel like buying that just for their computer cause that doesnt solve my problem for in the future. What can i do so that i can use my drive with pcs and macs in the future as well?

I know you have to have an MBox or Digi001 to use Protools LE. But can you also use a different brand interface with it to gain more mic pres, I/O, etc.

I had Cubase SL3 until I lost my dongle so now im looking for a new recording software. I would like one without a dongle. So I'm thinking Logic Express or something like that. I need rewire support, a midi step sequencer for keys, and the more file types supported the better. OMF export would be really really nice since i know some people that use Pro Tools, and most studios use Pro tools.

So i bought Cubase over the summer and it came with a copy protection key a.k.a. dongle. I've lost it. But cubase wont replace it, they tell me that i need to buy Cubase all again. I will not buy it again...and if I find my key I'm selling Cubase. I have started to look into Protools LE and M-powered. I'm a fan of the M-Audio Firewire 410 interface and would like to use that with the M-Powered software.
There is something included with M-Powered (not included with LE) called an iLok though. Is this one of those dongle things that I will probably lose?

I have a Lacie 160GB Ext. HD thats connected using FW800. I bought it intending to record audio directly to it so I could leave space on my int. for programs etc. But the problem is: if it is in the same room as the mic im recording with (which it always is) then it is heard all over the track what can i do?
