Hiya, at the moment I use an iriver ihp-120 (or h120 as they're now called) which is over 3 years old, its an mp3 player, but in it's time the main reason that I wanted to get that over the ipod was that it has internal recording capability, as in recording mp3s at up to 320kbps/44khz and high quality wavs too (1141k/44khz or something like that) but the software allows 3 hours of recording or 189mb which ever comes first.

now, its still reliable and all, but I was out of curiousity, wondering if there's any other portable digital recording solutions (handheld is a major bonus) out there that records at extremely high quality bitrates???

You may or may not have no idea how handy it is to use that for recording gigs (my own) or even grabbing samples that you hear in the streets or out and about. biggrin.gif

Unfortunately the newer iriver models are limited to 128kbps mp3's (Which isn't tooooo bad i guess), not sure on the wav's

Hiya, I'm really enjoying usage of Peak, but there's one thing Audacity has that peak doesn't as far as i know, is the ability to import raw data say a jpeg, and convert it into sounds, it comes out noisy/sharp/distorted/random at times.

IS there a way to import raw data into Peak? (using 4.13)

Hiya, I've finished a few songs, (they're wavs from Reason) and now I want to master them, i am using 3.0.3 and Audacity, Im guessing there's no good way or tips you folks could give me on perfect mastering (so that it sounds good on the nicest of hifi speakers ot the lowest of earphones), all i have is a hifi system and dj headphones (for now) I can't afford to get studio monitors just as yet, but im on a tight schedule at the moment...

I was told I could try to keep the equaliser on the hifi all on flat, and tweak the sound so it sounds perfect (during composition and also normalising) with audacity I just use the regular settings for that (both the options ticked);

- Remove any DC offset (centre on 0 vertically)
- Normalise maximum amplitude to -3dB

are there any solid methods in Reason with the mastering suite? or any other programs or just general methods/tips??

cheers heaps!

in my powerbook, my hdd is making a clicky noise (very faint) once in a while.. did a disk utility check repaired the disk (nothing came up as a fault) did a hardware test too... Should I be worried? like a pop/click... ahh hard to explain, it doesn't SOUND serious as such... is there any way to do a good check to see if any bad sectors on the hard disk or anything like that? (would i need to make a partition of my current macintosh HD (its an 80gb at the moment)

in reason 3.0.3, sometimes during playing the track in the sequencer, it'd stop for half a second with no sound, and continue on, maybe less than half a second

running 10.4.2 w/ 768mb ram... any help would be appreciated, cos if this will happen live, i'll be in strife huh.gif
