Hi,
My Uncle has been a long-time Logic user and was hoping to initiate me into its ways. He sent me Logic 4.x.x a long while ago with its USB XSKey. He recently upgraded to 7, so he sent me versions 5&6.
I've been attempting to install 5&6, but the XSKey isn't recognized at all. He has the proper serials and everything, but the XSKey manager doesn't even see the key when it's plugged in, much less let me enter any serials.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hey Everyone,
I'm really getting into this digital music scene (although still a newbie). I'm learning the basics of recording and hope to soon learn about mixing and mastering.
As a student in a university, I'm in the business of figuring out what I want to do with my life!
What path should I take to make this hobby into a possible career (for example, as a studio tech)? I still have a lot of learning to do, so you could include tips on getting more advanced or even having a solid foundation of the basics.
Thanks!
Hi Everyone,
I'm not sure whether this is the right forum for this.
Here's my situation: I need to be able to record a decent demo of my band to distribute to clubs in order to play paying gigs. We're a basic five piece band (vocals, guitar, bass, drums, keyboard). I'm using a Powerbook G4 (see signature for specs), a basic MIDI controller, and GarageBand at the moment. I plan on buying GarageBand 2 as soon as possible in order to add multi-tracking and other stuff.
What should I buy (on a budget)? I'm looking at the M-Audio MobilePre or Audiophile USB, but I'm not sure what to do in terms of buying a mixer, an extra drive, etc.
Also, what are good resources for recording? For instance, how should I record the drums? What order should we record in? Should we multi-track?
Thanks a lot, I'm just getting into this stuff.
