My nephew has a Novation ReMOTE 25 USB controller keyboard which is connected to a Powerbook G4 Laptop running Cubase SE. His Audio/MIDI interface is an M-Audio Firewire 410 which currently is connected to the computer via USB and feeds audio to a pair of Genelec Powered Monitors.

We are having difficulty getting sounds to trigger from the keyboard. In the main Cubase window, you can see a midi signal being made when a key is depressed, but nothing is heard through the speakers. I should say he is using MIDI via USB.

We’ve opened a project with some music in and that plays fine, with all the parts being heard. The problem is starting from scratch with a new project. I don’t know where to start looking, I’m sure it’s a simple matter of changing a setting somewhere, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
