OK, so this is probably a laughably-easy problem but I'm pretty much stuck, so please help... I've just acquired an iBook at work, primarily for ringtone composition - didn't plan on using an external synth as I only require a very basic standard GM sound set. Thing is, can't seem to find out whether the iBook has a built-in MIDI synth, as you get with practically all low-end PC soundcards, and Cubase has no mention of any such thing in its 'MIDI Out' option. Can anyone shed any light on this? I know Quicktime deals with the playing back of MIDI files (is this via a soft synth?) Is there a built-in MIDI functionality? Or am I better off setting up an external synth? Or can anyone reccomend a VST Instrument that will emulate basic GM sounds? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers.
