O.K. my imac is a mess and I want to completely erase my harddrive and reinstall 8.6 from scratch. I know I need to use my software restore disc but everytime I try to start the computer (disk is inserted) and hold down the c key I get a black screen. What's the difference between just clicking on the restore cd Icon on my desktop and actually restarting it and holding the c key?
I can get one for free at work. It's got 110mghz processor and about 80mb of memory. I use reason a lot and they say the minimum processor speed is 128mghz. I know I can put more memory in but how bout' updating the processor. Does anyone out there use a computer this slow for anything audio? Anyone have price estimates on getting this thing up to snuff. Is it worth it?
Hello all, O.k., I'm using an imac g4 with reason and cubase for software and an audiosport quattro with a crappy casio for a midi controller. The thing is, I had everything working great until I switched my casio for another casio. Well actually that worked too, but when I went to switch back to the original casio, no more midi control. I've created new OMS studio setups and I reinstalled the quattro drivers, and the midi still won't work. When I try and test the studio in OMS, there's no spooky voice saying midi recieved. Bummer. I've made sure reason is using the quattro for midi but still nothing. Plus, now I can't rewire reason and cubase together. What am I doing wrong. Maybe it's my midi cables, who knows, although they should be fine. Should I just reinstall everything? Help!
I've heard it's good to make a seperate hard drive or use a divider or something for all your music apps. because it frees up memory and makes your computer go faster. wheeee! How do you do this? I'm pretty new to mac's and maybe a little ignorant about computers in general. Thanks in advance.
Hell0o all, Reason 2.0 should be arriving at my doorstep any day now and since it's os X compatible I'm wondering if I need to use OMS. I'm using the audiosport quattro with it and that also has os X drivers. Yeah! So is OMS still necessary? Also, what does it mean when they say OS 10.2 will now have working audio units? How is that different then OS X now. And I can't believe there is no special upgrade price for 10.2. That's pretty lame. It seems like OS X just came out!
