Quicktime 5 and later can load and use soundfonts.

For MacOS put the soundfont files (.sf2) into the
Extensions "Quicktime Extensions" "Sound Banks" folder
and open the "Quicktime Settings" control panel and choose the music item
and the soundfont files should appear in a list along with the regular
Quicktime synth.

For MacOSX put the soundfont files (.sf2) into ~/Library/Audio/Sounds/Banks.
Open the "System Preferences", select "QuickTime" and "Music",
and select the SoundFont name from the list and click "Make Default".

If anyone wants to know how to get a PC only version of the Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital running in a Beige G3 you can contact me for details by emailing me using SBLive as the Title.

The Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital is a recent PC only version of the Live! series and not the same as the mac sblive.

The Soundfonts and Audio work great on my Beige G3.

Don't know if it works on G4's but I can't see why it shouldn't.
