I just bought a G5 Dual Processor Mac, and am in the market for a sound card.
I've searched and browsed the forums looking for advice, and found many topics on what cards don't work (such as the M-Audio and Delta-44) with the new G5's, but not much on what does work. I don't need much from my sound card. Mostly I want to have an additional sound output port, so I can use it with Live or DJ software so I can save the built in port for cueing sounds. Maybe later it might be nice to have a midi input, or a surroud sound outport, but that's not essential for now. I'm looking for something inexpensive, under $200. With my last system I tried a usb adapter, but man that thing blows and is always cutting out. Hoping that an internal card would work better. Any advice?

I'm trying to find a program that will let me create layered music from pre-existing sources. (ie. sampling, mash-ups, etc...)
A program that is basic, but does the following is all I need: Can import tracks from a CD or MP3 Format Can change the duration/speed of individual tracks (necessary to beat match) Can cut and paste (edit) waveforms That is all. Acid on the PC does all this perfectly, but the best I can find with a mac is using both Peak and Deck back and forth, which is getting old. Something easy to learn/user friendly is also nice. |
