System Name/set Up Question

so i bought a new ibook. it arrived yesterday and i've never used a mac.
when going through the set up process i didn't realize that what i listed as my 'short name' would show up as my main account/admin and now i can't seem to find out how to change it. i go into the address book and it shows my name and all info that i can change but the 'short name' field is greyed out...then i searched around in the setup files but couldn't seem to find it. does anyone know if i can do this??? or do i just have to live with the stupid name i put in?

What Is The Max Ram And Hd For An Ibook??

i'm trying to decide (STILL!) between getting a powerbook or an ibook. i have to take a loan out for either so 'getting the best i can afford' is a relative idea...

what's the max RAM and hard drive size for the ibook and the powerbook? anyone?

Best Way To Multi-track On An Ibook?

i'm about to buy a laptop. i'm pretty sure it will be a new ibook and not the powerbook...
i am a musician and basically want to be able to record electric guitar, vocals, keys, maybe some loops and effects
i don't need studio sound but i don't want crap.
it seems like the most popular route to go is an mbox...and i've read the most about that - but what is this emagic ? and is there anything else that works just as well?

my concerns are that the ibook won't have enough juice to do this...does anyone use it with an mbox?
is it going to take me a year to figure out how to multi-track in protools?

any advice or suggestions would be SO appreciated!!!
