Hello,

I am an old school MIDI programmer and have been out it for a number of years . .coming back in, I see a lot of changes and not up on it like I should be . .so my terminology may be incorrect but I am looking for a plug-in or virtual instrument .or possibly even SoundFont to do the following . .

I set up MIDI files and do custom cover tune sequencing for some friend's duo, single, and trio performance group . I just got a new 17" powerbook and want to have a small, portable rig to do this. I have an Oxygen 8 and want everything else to be housed on the powerbook in OSX so I am looking for a good GM/GS sound source that I can allow Metro SE, Digital Performer 4 or similar sequencers access to internally pull the sounds - so I do not need to access the physical rack of synths. I am not familiar with Sound Fonts or have much knowledge of VIs. I would appreciate any help to allow my to have this portable sequencing station.
