I want to record voice and my piano playing at the same time.
I've figured out how to record music from my Yamaha P80 keyboard onto my iMac, using Cakewalk Metro.
But how do I go about recording voice. What microphone under $100 do you recommend ? What port does it plug into ? Can I record voice and piano at the same time ?
I appreciate all help !

In order to record on our iMac 9.2 I need to have the Apple Sound Card set on Sound In.

The problem: as soon as Cakewalk Metro 5 is activated, the Sound Card setting becomes permanently set to Internal Modem. A warning is also posted on the Sound Card window that says the setting can't be changed because the application is in use elsewhere. As far as I know, the Sound Card isn't being used by another application.

This situation is maddening. I should also note that when we first install Metro 5, we can record once, then the problem sets in.

I think this is an Apple system problem, as the same thing happened when we tried to use the basic freeware Soundrecorder 1.0

Help !!!!

I'm trying to burn AIFF files and create my first audio CD of my music. I have two issues:

---The music I'm burning to Verbatim CD-R and Memorex CD-RW don't play on our CD player. (The CDs do play back on the computer.)

---Memorex CD-R won't accept my music files. In the burning process I'm given an Error 7932 message.

I'm so frustrated !!!

I've only met with frustration in trying to record on my iMac, using 9.2.  I have a Yamaha P-80 with midi capabilities. To start, however, I only want to record audio and make a  basic demo CD. Hope someone can help.
......I have Cakewalk's Metro 5 and downloaded SoundRecorder 1.0 (freeware, very basic), thinking that the only reason I've been unable to record is my lack of experience....I am new to Mac. Here is what I'm doing.

One end of a cable with a 1/8-inch plug is in the computer's Mike port. The end connected to the computer has two stereo plugs, one left and right, for the keyboard's output ports. It appears sound is registered on the software when I play. However, there's no playback. I'm using the internal soundcard. I only get loud static, with an annoyingly loud noise from the left speaker....The Apple Store checked my computer the sound card and port are okay....What do you suggest  ? Please don't hesitate to share even the most basic info. I'm on a steep learning curve...Thank  you, gracias, merci, grazie, obrigado !
