Musicians / Composers

I'm simple yet complex, have the desire to start and create a new realm to recording and am still looking for my break through idea/song/thought as far as composition goes, probably just as "cliche" as everyone else in the music business, but ahh.... well, we'll keep trying. It's fun.

Hi Everyone,

I currently have the new IMAC G5 20" with 2GB of ram. I'm using digital performer 4.5 and have recently bought a tascam FW1884 for my audio interface. I also have a Korg Triton Le-88 Workstation, Mackie hr824 monitors, 2 AKG C1000S and 2 AKG C3000B mics. I haven't really started recording anything but mostly just reading manuals and playing around with things in digital performer recording keyboard riffs and licks. I'm curious or kind of confused on what else I need as far as compressors, mic-preamps, additional hardware, possibly a midi controller to complete a basic set-up to where I can begin playing around and start to learn the ins and outs of recording live music as well as writing a lot of beats and electronic music. Any advice on how to improve my set-up and maximize my set-up is extremely appreciated. Thank you.

Ryan.

I'm using a mac g4 with digital performer with the motu828, and i'm confused on what midi controller to get. Is there a midi controller out there that uses firewire instead of USB?

Does anyone have any recommendations as far as m-audio oxygen 8 v.s. m-audio ozone? I'm just really lost as far as what midi controller to get. I'd really like to get one with firewire capabilities or plugins, but can't seem to find one.

all advice welcome! Thanks!

I'm kind of new to this, and I have a Mac G4 with Digital Performer software, and picking up a Maudio firewire audiophile midi interface, I'm looking to record some acoustic tracks as well as some electric guitars and lay down some vocal tracks, I'm wondering what else I need besides the firewire or if i even need the firewire at all. What is recommended for doing this type of recording? any advice is appreciated. lata.

Hey everyone.... I'm looking to start a new recording studio using a Mac G4 w/Digital Performer... I'm just curious what equipment you'd recommend to start out with. (i.e. - what mixers, midi, monitors, mics, preamps, synths, etc....) Basically just looking for some different ideas for complete studio setups for starting out using the mac g4 w/Digital performer. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
