Had to do a disk erase and re-install OSX 10.2.8 on my Mac G4 w/dual processors. My son-in-law set my G4 up the first time, but he can no longer help. I must install Logic 6 so it will operate with a Tascam US-244 midi/audio interface. Since I'm a music guy and not a computer tech, I know nothing about properly installing this suff. Logic setup assistant is asking me to do things I do not understand. Is there someone ... a consultant or troubleshooter ... that can walk me through this install? Toekneenose ... usually ... but not this time.
I'm running Logic on a Mac G4. I get the same message every time I use it: "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and Midi. Sample rate 35569 recognized. Check conflict between Logic Platinum and external device."
I've scoured the forums, looking for an answer to this problem. No useful answers so far.
It makes me crazy, because it causes my audio to break up as I work, making any recording impossible and unuseable. At worst, the audio vanishes altogether, only to come back on its own after I let it set for a few moments.
Isn't there anyone out there with an answer to this problem? Given the fact that every forum has a complaint of this nature (I've seen them all!), isn't this a solvable problem?
Help?!?!?!?!
Maybe one of you digital audio whizes can help out an old audio guy with a technical glitch who's trying to get back into recording and composing after a 20 year hiatus.
I've just begun to use Logic Platinum on my G4 Quicksilver w/dual processors. After laying down a couple of orchestra parts, the whole audio starts to distort, then cuts out completely.
A Logic error message then pops up, saying: "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and Midi." Then it shows some sampling rate number, after which it says, "Check conflict between Logic Platinum and device."
What device? Is there a conflict with my audio/midi interface? Or is it my keyboard/controller that's the culprit? Could it be my Kontac sample player? Where do I go in my computer files to correct this? I can't seem to record more than a few trax before it locks up and shows another error message.
Any suggestions? I'm new to the whole digital audio thing because when I left the biz it was all still analog, so be clear and specific with your directions.
I'm running Logic Platinum and Unity sampler on a dual 800 G4 w/1.5 Gig RAM, a Tascam US-122 interface. I intend to do mostly MIDI sample tracks to build orchestral music.
I just got the Garritan samples with the Kompakt interface. It all works beautifully!
My question: As I understand it, this version of Kompakt (the one that came with the Garritan samples) cannot be used for other samples, that it is dedicated only to the Garratan package. Is this correct? Or can I use it with other samples (Gigasample, for example) packages designed for Kompakt?
Also: I want to get the very best choir samples as well. Can you recommend a choir sample package that will integrate and fully operate well with Unity? The Unity manual says it will play Gigasample samples, but I want to be certain before I invest $4-500 in something like Voices of the Apocalypse.
Any adivce? Suggestions?
