i am a DJ looking into making my own compilation CDs and i was wondering what software the legendary DJ/producers use to make mixed CDs?

Hi.. i am looking for the best and fairly easy software to begin remixing songs. Pretty much what dance DJs and producers do without the expensive studio setup and high tech hardware.
Was wondering if such thing can be accomplished by using just a PowerMac and some software.. or do i definitely need some piece of additional hardware. Many thanks in advance
