Cubasis/virtual Memory Problems

I am still having problems with Cubasis running on OS9.2. These problems appeared suddenly about two months ago to harass me. If I have virtual memory turned on (which the program says I'm not supposed to have turned on), I get a noticable latency on audio signal that I'm sending in through the external audio jack. Cubasis didn't used to have this latency. If I turn the virtual memory off like it says I should, any audio going in and any tracks I recorded before, even a long time ago, come out in short jagged bursts interspersed with silence.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Short Bursts Of Audio In Cubasis

I am running OS9.2 and trying to record using Cubasis. I have recently developed a problem where any audio in input into Cubasis using either my USB iMic or the regular external audio jack is only received in short bursts. There is about half a second of audio followed by a second or two of silence and it repeats in a similar but irregular pattern. Now even files I recorded on Cubasis before all of this happened are having this problem when I play them back. What can I do about this?

Audio Input Problems

I am not sure if this is a hardware or software problem. My iMac is only receiving external audio input in short, irregular bursts, insterspersed with no signal at all. I am running OS9.2 and trying to record using Cubasis. I am having this problem with both a Griffin iMic and my built-in external audio input jack. Any file already on the iMac that I import into the Cubasis arrangement I'm working on also only plays in short, irregular bursts even though they play fine in iTunes. Please assist. Thank you.

Making Music With A New Ibook

I am a public school music teacher who is thinking about getting a new iBook to use as a portable music making tool. Here's what I would like to do with it:

1. Sequence backing tracks in various musical styles for my students to play along with in class. I'd want to burn these backing tracks onto cd and bring them into the classroom so my kids can jam to a calypso-style "This Land Is Your Land" or whatever. What would be good software to do this with an iBook?

2. Record my own music and my students music either live or track by track - what is the best way to get sound into an iBook?

3. Begin to explore the world of software synths. Which ones are easy to use and can interact well with the software/hardware used for the above two items?

I hope that's clear enough. I'd appreciate any suggestions. If there's anyone answering who lives in the NYC area and can help me in person with this I'd be really grateful. Thank you for supporting public education.

External Mic Problems

My external mic on my iMac running OS9.2 seems to have developed a sudden problem. Audio signal is only being received in short bursts. I wiggled the plug, tried a different cord and connected the iMac to two different audio devices and the problem still persists. Does anyone have any advice or has anyone encountered this before? Could this affect an attempt to switch to USB audio? Could the problem e with Cubasis?
