I am wanting to purchase the 002 rack and pair it with my 12" PowerBook. My PB has 640 RAM, 867mhz and a 40-gig HD. I will be purchasing a 80-gig external HD. I plan to be recording full live bands. I would like to know if anyone else has tried this yet and how well did work? Will I need to add anything into my setup? I don't plan on using many plug-ins during the recording. Most plug-ins will be added during the editing and mixing. Will this allow me to use all 8 ins at the same time?

I have done a fair amount of recording in studio and on a G4 tower with 001 and a little bit with a borrowed Mbox on my PB, but I yet to test it with any hard core recording. I would love to know how well it will stand up and or what I will need to add?

Thanks for any advice or help. smile.gif

I would like to know if there is a way to run PT 6 on my 12"PB without having an Mbox or 002.

My reason for asking is that I have recently purchased a 12" powerbook with 640 ram and I want to do some editing. My friends run a small studio and I want to help them out by doing some editing for them at my home, and being that I spent all my money on my computer I can't afford to buy an
I/O box. When I can I plan to buy the new digioo2 rack so I can use make use of the firewire connectivity. I don't want to buy an Mbox because I will need more than 2 ins if I plan on doing any mobile recording. I am not willing to use any other editing software, mainly because I was trained and am most familiar with PT, as well everyone I work with is using it and if we need to file share we need to be using the same format.

I would be more than happy using PT free for the time being but you need to boot up in OS 9 in order to use it and my PB can only boot in OS X. I thought this might be a problem wen I purchased my PB but Digidesign had already released PT 6 and I thought they would have released a free version by now. When I E-mailed Digidesign they told me they had nothing in the works. That was about a month ago.

If anyone has any solutions or comments for me it would be greatly appreciated. java script:emoticon(':)')
