Musicians / Guitarists

Yes old, but willing to learn a lot! Got a Mac (OS X) for the first time and often it's a puzzle to do my music on the Mac i.s.o. The Windows Computer. So I'am surching for the best way to do midi and Audio at the same time under OS X. Till now I am beginning to succeed.

Since I'am very new in this musical world of Mac, I do have a unsolved problem with the Omnisynth virtual synth, I want to use on my G4 Powerbook, together with Pro Tools + MBox and G7 (Sibelius).
I was looking for a virtual synth, to be a sound module for my midi files played f.e. with G7 or PT 6.1.

So, I inserted my Omnisynth Cd in Mac and I got the message after the "install" :

"This installation requires a System Folder on the destination drive. The installation has been cancelled Error 100:1,-43"

I already mailed the IKMultymedia three times, but I think they are still asleep and I like very much to have my investment working. So can anybody help me??

I am aware of the negative advices about Norton for Mac, but since I have Norton, I like to use it anyway.

To speed up my external disk and my non system disks (partitions), Norton System Works is just fine. But when I want to speed up my system disk, it has to be done from the Norton Cd. Start your Mac up with the Cd inserted and hold down de "C" key, tells the User Guide. But when I do so, nothing happens except the Mac is starting up as normal.

Somebody know how to speed up / defragment my system disk?
