i guess, this has been discussed a lot of times before, but I haven't been able to find the appropriate thread. so here's my question: can anyone recommend a vst to au adapter that definitely will play my old collection of vst-plugs I've been running under os9 using logic 4.x? I've just migrated to a g5 running logic 6.3.2 under osX....

There isn't an audio unit adapter that will run OS 9 versions of VST plug-ins.
The VST to Audio unit adapter by fxpansion only works for OS X versions of VST plugins.

Formatj, does this mean if I use 0Sx, I won't be able to use my Hyperprism VST plugin pack which was previously used on 0S9, if Arboretum don't do an equivilant VST plug-in pack that is made for 0Sx? Sorry if this is a basic question but I'm a newbie. ta

Well, I'm no formatj, but as I'm online right now...

I don't think it's even possible for anyone to make an adapter that converts anything OS 9 to OS X without the original developers doing a lot of work first.

So unless the company that made the original plug-ins ports them to OS X, you're out of luck. If they did happen to port them to OS X as VSTs, you could then use fxpansion's marvellous VST-to-AU adapter, which works like a charm with all my new VST plugs in Logic.

But if the plugs are OS 9, that's where they're staying.

Many thanks for your reply. I understand what I wasn't understanding. I've just moved to OSx 'cos my G4/OS9.2/MOTU 828mk2 didn't work well. I bought Hyperprism and Sound Diver, loved them, but now can't use them. Damn sad.gif No excuse for asking dum questions but still. Fingers crossed for Hyperprism AU plugin pack. Thanks for yer help.
