Is anyone using the Firewire 410 in OS9. How does it perform? How is the MIDI? What latency can be achieved. Any clicks and pops?
And how is it in OSX? 1 Ghz TiBook Mac OS 10.2.3 + 9.2.2 1 Gig Ram Logic 6 Logic 4.8.1 Ableton Live 2.1.1 Reaktor 4.0.3 This post has been edited by timyork: Sat 11 Oct 2003, 22:18 |

OK, I just bought one. It works with everything I tried so far. OS9 Logic 4.8.1 to OSX Logic 6.1. MIDI + Audio works fine. audio in and out. Ableton Live, OSX 2.1, audio out works fine. Haven't tried audio in in Live yet. Minimum buffer in OS9 before audio degradation is 256, but you can monitor through the 410 with zero latency. Pre amps are very nice. Two headphone outs is great. Not sure how strong the casing is. May be best to put some bubble wrap round it if you're carrying it in a backpack. Plug fw cable in AFTER computer has booted up!

I got a 410 and cannot get it to show up in the OS9 Sound Manager. M-Audio says that Apple did not write a routine for a FW audio device in OS9. Is there some new info? I'm debating on whether to install OSX or just return it.
Ideas! Please! Bill Heppe, Helendale, CA |
