I am new at MIDI stuff, and am working with an imac on OS9.2. I have the Sibelius program, Two different Yamaha keyboards that are happy to talk to each other. An Edirol UM-1S driver MIDI interface to the computers USB port.
I have loaded on the computer the driver, both freeMIDI and OMS.
I am able to get Sibelius to play back to the Yamaha keyboard, but, no input is being received to Sibelius.
The channels are all on 1 for receiving and sending.
I've tried it with local voice on and off.

What else can I do. I really want to play music throguh to Sibelius.

I tried using the harmony program which is OMS and that froze the computer.

OMS seems to be causing disfunction, so I have switched it off in the extensions file and am using freeMIDI.

I have just read that the UM-1S needs OSX.

What can be the problem?
The driver, the OS, the location of OMS?

Can anyone help.

Thanks. wink.gif

If it's OMS the order to install is OMS then Drivers needed for MIDI
You need to uninstall all this and trash preferences before re-installing.

You wrote OSX is mandatory for UM-1S and though you have a driver for it installed… uh! blink.gif
I've looked on the edirol site there ARE drivers for OS9, but there are 2 drivers in fact: one for OMS and one for freeMIDI

Check the driver in case you didn't install the right one… blink.gif wink.gif

Thanks.

I did reinstall the driver, and OMS.
The manual also said it was not for freeMIDI.
Guess I'll have to read the manuals more carefully. wink.gif

Also reinstalled Sibelius.

It worked.
