How Do You Get Firewire Midi To Be Seen By Os9???

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 6 Joined: 09-Oct 03 From: Bothel - US Member No.: 26,357	I have the following: Mac G4 TiBook OS9 Logic 6.0 MOTU 828 MK2 Am I blind? I can not get Logic to send and recieve midi data from my 828 MK2? It does it automatically in OSX. But in OS9 there is nothing. What do I do? The only midi options in Logic are for USB and Parallel port, not firewire. Help!! Cyanbaby

Oms should find your firewire port just fine. When I run the search it comes up with 3 things: Studio Patches pgm chg IAC Driver QuickTime Music Thats it. No MOTU Midi anything. Any suggestions?

Advanced Member Group: Members Posts: 495 Joined: 12-Oct 01 From: Chandler - US Member No.: 2,003	Sounds like you may want to make sure you have the current drivers from Motu and OMS. That is what usually causes the problem. Also when you were setting up OMS and did the scan, do not check anything when it asks for which port (motem or serial). Another thing that can cause problems is not setting up your programs in order. Usuallly OMS first then instal motu drivers and software, then logic. Then setup OMS, setup motu, then go into logic. Does that mean I can not use midi via my 828 in OS9 entirely?? I dont want to switch to OSX because I have amazing VSTs such as Halion, Kantos (Autotune), PSP SFX Machine that can not run on OSX!! Why would MOTU do such a thing?

Advanced Member Group: Members Posts: 300 Joined: 21-Aug 02 Member No.: 7,031	I don't know about the original 828, but I think you can use MIDI I/O (ask MOTU, they're very quick with the answer). For the 828 mkII, you have to buy another MIDI intrface to use on OS 9. There's a review of 828 mkII on this month EQ mag. http://www.eqmag.com/archive/1003/1003_Reviews1.htm
