Hi, I am relatively new to making music and I would like to branch out into electronic music. I know very little about software used to make electronic music. I am looking for a relatively easy program, yet I want to be able to make some music that will not sound incredibly elementary. I have a Mac OS X 900 MHZ power PC I-book. Could anyone please tell me the names of a few programs that are used to make electronic music that will fit on this type of computer. I'm looking to not spend more than $500 on a program. thank you for any help...

Give Propellerheads' Reason a try. It is a complete package (synths, samplers, fxs, sequencer, etc.) and it runs fine on a G3 900 MHz. When you decide to move on, check Ableton Live (on it's way to version 3)- it can be used with Reason. Of course, you could always try Propellerheads' Rebirth (for Mac OS 9 only). Also consider the Emagic Big Box or Steinberg's Studio Case. These will introduce you to the potential of software MIDI/audio sequencing. You'll find a cool editor for free at tcelectronic's site (Spark Me). There's a lot more out there but for now I think this will sufice.
P.S. Check out osxAudio.com, kvr-vst.com and hitsquad.com for free stuff.
Hope this helps, Cheers
