HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
I am running a G4 500mhz, 512 RAM, 40GIG.
when i record audio instruments in Logic and then close the file and reopen it all the tempo changes. I can resolve it by merely shifting the tempo, but its about 2-5 beats a minute everytime! Of course ALL other AUDIO is now out of sync.
I have tried switching off every extension and having a logic only settings but alas.
I am very perplexed.

I am very perplexed too!

Can you please be a little clearer in explaining your problem.

What software instruments are you using?
Are they sample based? e.g. EXS24
When you say that you "record" audio instruments do you mean just recording a MIDI sequence that triggers the instrument or do you mean bouncing the instrument to an audio file?

What is your sample rate? 44.1 or 48kHz? are you sure this isn't changing?

Have you tried Logic 4.8.1 or another version?
Is your copy of Logic a crack?

Ummmm....
I mean when I use the EXS24 sampler instruments....
that means that the recorded audio is now out.(vocals etc...)
I am on 44100mhz and I haven't noticed it changing. but the tempo..it can change a little or a lot. between 2-5 beats.
crack? hmmmmm.......
Can you help?

as formatj hinted to... you might want to upgrade your Logic to 4.8.1 which is a free upgrade from www.emagic.de, this may solve problem and may not but worth a shot.

I use 4.8.1 and never ran into this problem cool.gif

Oh DEAR....
didn't work.
got 4.8 still happening.
checked the MHZ.. still happening.
looked in Audio preferences at compatibility changed it to old time model high resolution..(have no idea what i am doing but thought it worth a shot, ) definately not, probably not even related .
Turned off apple talk, restarted the computer and used the OMS to turn it off, it said it was on even when I turned it off in the control panels so turned it off again.
still didn't help......
Have allready tried turning off all extensions and restarting and that didn't help.

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!

I'm still not quite sure what is happening.

This is what I know:
You are using logic 4.7.2 or 4.81
You are using EXS24 as your software instrument.
Something is wrong with the timing of your sound.

Can you list exactly what you are doing.
e.g.
Start Logic.
Open an EXS24 instrument
Load a program/sample into the EXS24 (what type? e.g. bass, piano or a "loop" i.e. drum loop or phrase)
Play and record some MIDI notes which trigger the exs24.
Load another EXS24
Play and record some MIDI notes which trigger the exs24.
Each recorded part is playing together i.e. in time at this point.
Save the logic song.
Quit Logic.
Start Logic.
Open previously saved Logic Song
The parts are no longer in time with each other
Opening the Matrix editor the note events appear to be in time.........
etc. etc.

At the moment I can't quite understand from your description what is happening.
Do you have tempo changes in your tempo list?
What is your sound card? What is your clock source for this, internal or external?
etc.....
What MIDI device e.g. MIDI interface or keyboard are you using?

yes..load sample instruments..exs24 drum loop for e.g. get the tempo just right for a loop.
The problem is with ALL the EXS24 audio instruments, but I have only noticed it on the drums, in other words it doesn't happen with JV2080 or audio. Its something only related to the sampler.
do bass, and whatever else.
save and quit.
reopen.
lets say it was tempo 147 BPM. it will still SAY 147 (in the transport bar) but when i play the loop(obviously listening to the drum loop is the easiest way of realising this) it is out of time, too short, with empty space or too long and gets cut off. So i resync the tempo by changing it up or down a bit and it settles in again.
Any other midi instruments from my JV2080 are now out of sync until i do this and so is the audio (which stays out of sync.)
I am using an audiowerks card and a midi sport 2 x 2 .
Fatar SL 61...sorry..clock source?
MAybe I am just doing something really stupid. I don't think so, but it has been known.
When i put a loop in and trigger it with the keyboard, I always find the tempo I like on the keyboard then trigger it and then alter the temp in the transport bar till it makes a perfect loop.
This seems right to me, I wouldn't have thought quitting and reopening should cause it to be not as i left it!
Is that helpful? thanks for trying to help me.

Hi Holly,

Using Logic 4.7 and the Exs24, never got this prob.
But when you use a loop and place it on a keyboard note eg C2, in this place the tempo is right
if you want to play this loop in an other notes of course, the tempo is not right.

Could you try it with only a percu sound and play it in your song and tell us if you've still got
the prob.
