Quite right, anyone proficient enough with one app will be able to get the work done no matter what the program is. It'i just a question of finding the one that suits you best...

So do these last few posts mean that all apps have the same latency problems? So, from me hitting a note to me hearing it will be the same? I'm really making that my number one priority in choosing software/hardware combo because I agree, of the top three apps, I could use any of them to make music comfortably - I just can't play when there's latency.

Not exactly it means that audio interface is one source of the latency problems. And so are the different programs. Depending on how well they handle audio stream they will cause more or less latency.

Sorry I'm late... But if some of you still wonder about what latency is and how it "appears", there was a quite interesting test made by a fellow member of the DUC (Digidesifn User Conference)...It's pretty clear and gots diagramms (which can help). Here's the link to the test: http://pages.sbcglobal.net/ccash/latency.htm
