Anyone know if Emagic are going to offer a competitive upgrade to Logic 6? I have been using VST 5.0 on my mac, and am sick of waiting for Steinberg to get it together with SX.

Any help would be appreciated.

Emagic did offer an upgrade path for Cubase switchers last year - I'm not sure if they still do, so you might have missed the boat on that one. sad.gif

Check out their website (www.emagic.de). As for SX, have you tried it yet? It's not half as bad as people make out.

If you don't need TDM support take a look at the new Gold bundle, or the Big Box.
That will get you on Logic cheaply, and give you an upgrade path to Platinum.

I picked up the Big Box last September for $200, not bad features for a low-end product.

Yes, if when gdoubleyou says "Gold bundle" he's referring to the new Emagic Production Kit, that's definitely worth a look: Logic Gold, the gorgeous EVB3 organ, EVP88 electric piano, EXSP24 sample player, Xtreme digial synths sample CD and the EMI 6|2m USB audio interface, all for £500 tops. That's one heck of a good deal. smile.gif

Took your advise and looked into both the Big Box and the new Gold production kit. I think I'll need a little more power than Logic Audio offers, so the Big Box is out. However, the EMI 6/2 Production kit looks NICE!! I also found some of the competitive crossgrades still availible on www.audiomidi.com.

Looks like I've got some big decisioins to make in the next few weeks. I might sell off quite a bit of hardware and go almost totally soft. What to do...

Thanks for all your advise,
Richard

Just a quick update for anyone who is interested. I contacted Emagic, and they said that it is a free upgrade to logic 6 for any version recently purchased. I think all they are asking for is a $8 shipping charge. This includes the EMI 6/2 Production Kit.

Also, audiomidi.com quoted a lower price for the Production Kit over the phone, than advertised on the website. It would definately be worth making the call and haggling with them. Always nice to save a little loot.

Hope the info is helpful.
