Hi everyone, greetings from Wales! I have an iBook 600mhz G3 256 RAM OS X 10.2.5 (no OS9) I am a singer songwriter and I want to multitrack acoustic guitar and vocals and mix to CD, I use an SM58 mic so which interface do I go for as I dont need MIDI, then what recording software as they all seem to have features I dont need. I would like a MOTU 828 and Logic Audio but this is way over my budget!! Help appreciated! Stephen, Cardiff.

Many, many possibilities...
It seems you only need 2 tracks at once when recording (voice + guitar)? In this case, many simple stereo interfaces will do the trick. The cheapest being the i-mic. I'll recommend the MBox which comes with Pro Tools 5 LE (6?), on USB. Not to name Emagic, M-Audio, Tascam, etc. Apogee has also a nice one (mini-me & mini-dac). Concerning the software, Deck is easy to learn, but DP 4, PT 6, Cubase SX & Logic 6 are much more powerfull.
Bye.
