Cd Import Problem Options

Can someone tell me exactly which extensions or what version of Quicktime is required for the "Movie " import function in (my case Logic and Peak) to work- the only way I can import audio from CD's is through Toast audio extractor which crashes my computer (also why?).

Helped a client set up a PT HD system, later discovered Toast would not work.

Went to Roxio's site, there is a known conflict between Toast, iTunes and Burn.

Go to Roxio's site for details on which extensions to turn off.

the conflict dosen't exist if you're using up to date versions of toast and itunes.
toast audio extractor is not compatible with os9.x or 10.
you'll have to import the cd's audio tracks with itunes(as aif's) or toast.
once the tracks are on your hard drive as aif, wav or sd2 files, you'll be able to load them into logic or peak easily, you can then chop them into tiny pieces and re-save the pieces as new audio files if you wish.
as far as movies are concerned, any quicktime movies on your hard drive can be imported into logic(not so sure about peak here).

this could be related to the early conflicts between itunes and toast.
around that time i found that i couldn't monitor t.a.e,
i stopped using it at that time and haven't used it since!
i'll check it out...

Thanks for these ideas - the plot thickens however, as I have now discovered the Movie function will work with Quicktime in "standalone"mode , (I prefer the Quicktime to iTunes as you do not have to import the entire track) but not when opened in either Peak or Logic - when Play is clicked it becomes shaded...

the quicktime file has to be an audio file!
logic and peak want aif, sd2, or wav files, basically...

..if the Quicktime file had to be an aiff etc then I wouldn't need Quicktime to import it ! (Hence the "Convert" button)

I'm not making myself clear..
I meant when I look at an audio CD with Quicktime in standalone mode I can extract to disk as aiff no problem - it doesn't work if I use the "Movie" (Quicktime) import function in either Peak or Logic..

Since you seem to be in quite a hurry, I'll take a chance here. I'm not using Logic but PT (thus taking the risk to get bashed again... nevermind...).
Anyway, since most of the soft have pretty much the same features, I guess Logic is not so far from PT regarding Import options, so:
You're mentionning the "Movie" import feature... well I guess this feature is basically usefull to import...movies (picture= .mov files), not audio, as it's the case within PT.
Doesn't Logic have a PT feature alike ("Import Audio from other movies") which can be used to import CD tracks?... I'm pretty sure it does.

PS: and yes, Toast Audio Extractor does work with OS 9 (I'm using it on a regular basis with OS 9.1).
