OK.
Make sure you have the latest drivers, GearBox version, etc. (as seen by Line 6 Monkey)
Use headphones for now to monitor the output from the Tone Port (keep the volume somewhere at or below the midpoint).
In the Apple drop down menu, choose System Preferences, then choose Sound. Then select the Line 6 / USB unit for both the Input and Output tabs.
Start up GearBox, set the Input to Instrument. Plug in the guitar to one of the Instrument ports (PAD or no PAD depending on the pick up levels). Pick a suitable tone setting and see if you get the expected results through the headphones.
Than start GarageBand and open the Preferences from the main drop down, and choose Audio/Midi. Even though its says "follow system preferences' or something similar, explicitly choose the Line 6/ USB option again for both input and output.
From the Track drop-down, choose New Track, Real Instrument option (NOT electric guitar, as Gear Box will already be the required tone shaping), arm the record button, hit play, and it should work. If you want to do re-amping, I have no clue how that works in GB.
One small point about the Line 6 gear is that the various ins and outs are quite closely grouped, so it is embarrassingly easy to put the wrong jack in the wrong socket - hours of fun!
Hope this gets you up and running.

Great !!!!!!!!!! It works fine thank you very much
just few things : in garage band , in the window "real instrument" for the new track, imput source is tstereo 1/2 (toneport UX2) and control must be activated, otherwise , the return sound in my headphone is sometimes interrupted
another thing which is a good surprise, I can use the different tone presets of the line 6 gearbox and make my own one
but
the signal is better and higher if I use "guitar electric" in garage band and if I choose an amp, pedals etc... that way I have to bypass the tone in the line6 gearbox
Great that I can use my toneport
thanks again for your help

Excellent news. And now you've awaked my curiosity for using GarageBand '09 in more depth and to ring the changes from using Live. Everyone's a winner! QUOTE (taloujazz @ Tue 28 Apr 2009, 04:58) Great !!!!!!!!!! It works fine thank you very much
