Hey - does anyone know of any way to convert voice to midi files? That way I can import the melody file into like Band in a Box and create auto accompaniment.
Or, even better, does anyone know of any auto accompaniment software (like Band in a Box) that let's you sing in the melody, then creates auto accompaniment?
Thanks.

The Roland GI-10 is an older piece of gear that has a microphone input to allow pitch to midi conversion. It is not absolutely perfect at what it does, but it can be functional. It has a hard time recognizing quick changes of notes. So, if in recording you slow the tempo way down, and instead of singing words, you substitute a consisent sylable, ah, for example, I think you could get it to work for your purposes. The unit sells for around $100 to $150 on eBay, is has standard 5-pin midi connectors on it, so you would still need some sort of interface to connect it to your Mac.
