I know people are successfully using FireWire Solo to record in Logic 8, but I seem to have trouble setting it up so that Logic will actually record the input from the Solo box.
Both OS X and Logic recognize Solo, and with a guitar plugged into Solo, I can see readings on the analog 1/2 band in the Solo software mixer, and I can hear the guitar on headphones plugged into Solo. But I cannot get that input to be received by an Audio track in Logic. I have followed the general advice I have seen online of setting OS X System Preferences sound to FW Solo, Audio Midi Setup to FW Solo, and Logic's Audio to FW Solo -- and activating the 1/2 output in the Solo software mixer. No dice - the monitors in Logic are absolutely blank (as oppossed to when they're set to, say, the laptop's built-in microphone). I also fiddled with selecting some of the other Solo choices (Firewire Solo Multichannel, Firewire Solo Analog 1/2), also to no avail.
I'm on a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with 2 GB RAM, running OS X 10.4.10 and a new academic version of Logic Pro 8, with the current driver and firmware updates for Solo.
So I was wondering if someone who has successfully recorded with Solo in Logic 8 could please post exactly what settings they're using in:
The Firewire Solo Mixer The OS X System Preferences Sound screen The Audio Midi Setup and Logic's Audio Preference screen
Thanks! JJ
