I'm trying to get Pro Tools Free to work on a Blue & White Mac G3 with OS 9.2, using an M-Audio Audiophile USB interface. But I can't get it to work. I can only get a very low-level audio signal to come in and no MIDI at all.
I have tested the M-Audio Audiophile USB interface on my PC just to see if it works, and it does--both audio and MIDI signals come through to the computer. So it's not the interface. I have also tried both USB ports on the Mac, and the keyboard/mouse works on both, but the Audiophile does not work on either one. So the Mac's USB ports seem to be okay.
I have gotten the latest versions of the drivers from the M-Audio website, but they make no difference.
I'm at a loss. If there were no audio signal getting through at all that would make more sense to me than getting a very low-level signal, which is what it's doing.
Any suggestions?
TIA,
estiv

when I was runing OS 9 onmy older Mac Clone
and loade dProtools free
it cause dother glitches
and other audio software to not work anymore
it was very buggy in my experience
I trashed it

I don't have much experence with M-audio priducts but be sure you have all the compatible drivers and
consider updateing to OSX at least 10.3.9
it is waaaaay more stable than OS9

I have read many issues with M-Audio priducts ans macs...
do a search for the audiophile
I am not sure , but it seems like a newer M-porduct, and may not bne completely compatible with OS9

do some searches

here and on google and see what others have to say

Okay, I've got more info.

I loaded the drivers for a MOTU Fastlane interface (MIDI only, no audio) to see if that would work. No go. It's as if the driver and the hardware aren't communicating at all. And I know that the USB is working, as I've used the keyboard/mouse out of both jacks. Any ideas?

TIA
