Drum Machine Midi Probs, Alesis io/2, worked at first then not Options

I have a roland drum machine and want to imput midi signals into my mac, for recording drum patterns into a software instrument. I have an Alesis io/2 and got two midi cables. I connected the out of the roland to the in of the alesis. This worked perfectly first time, but now for some reason it doesnt work. I looked on midi monitor and it just keeps saying 'active sense' every fraction of a second, pressing any key on the drum machine just results in an invalid message in midi monitor. Any suggestions?

Really wish I could offer some words of encouragement here, but the truth is I`ve had nought but heart and head aches with io2.
It`s even been back to Alesis bas I thought it was faulty but it`s still a sack of wet s*#t!
All I can say is that if you email them with your problem through the support on their site they`ll give you a phone number and try and get you up and running.
Other than that all I can say is best of luck to you Brother and I hope you`ll soon be Groovin Happily!
