Digi 001 And Le 6.9? Options

I recently picked up a G4 w/ a Digi 001 on eBay. I haven't hooked up the Digi001 yet, but I noticed the version of PTLE the G4 is on is 6.9 It seems I read somewhere that 6.4 is the highest you can go with the 001? Since the PCI card was not installed in the G4, I'm thinking maybe the owner had moved on to a Digi002.

Also, someone told me OSX 10.3.9 is also the highest you can go with the 001...can anyone verify this?

I traded in my Digi001 for a Digi002 Rack too long ago to remember so I checked the Digidesign site to refresh my memory and found this in their archive section:

"Pro Tools LE 6.4 is officially supported on Mac OS X 10.3.2 and 10.3.4 (Panther) with the following systems on Power Mac G5, Power Mac G4, iMac G4, PowerBook G4, and iBook models*:

Digi 002
Digi 002 Rack
Mbox
Digi 001 (on Power Mac G4 only)

Digi 001 and MIX systems will not work with Pro Tools 6.7 and higher"

I am using PT LE 6.4/Digi001 on a G4 with OSX 10.3.9. Works perfectly. And, just like everyone else, I'll have to eventually trade up to the 002 if I expect to ever use PT 7. Rats.

Thanks for the feedback! I forgot to mention I also have a G3 sitting around that I got from a friend a while back. We used to record in PT on a Digi001 on it, but he kept the Digi001 for his G4. After thinking about it, I think the best option is just hooking up my Digi001 to the G3, since I'm probably not going to do much in PT anymore and it would be easier than reverting the G4 back to PTLE 6.4

I think I'll probably go with a MOTU 2408 MKII (that another friend is selling) and Cubase SX on the G4...but that's another forum.
