hello all

In order to uninstall plug-ins (AU, MAS or VST), do I need do more than remove the .component icons in the correspondent folders or are there any other files that keep the plug-in´s active in any way ?

Final Cut Express does not open and I suspect it might have something to do with Waves plug-ins. However after removing older versions and installing new ones (which they claim no longer produce crashes), the same thing happens.

How can I clean up my entire plug-ins from OS X ?

Thank you.

well, it depends… (sigh)

- it can be the whole set of files that has a problem.
- it can be not the plug files but the config/pref files which are at their own place.

You can take out all the plugs folders from the libraries and check, if FCP is OK you bring the plug ins back one at a time. (smarter method: bring back half of them and try, if the problem arrise the cause is in them, else try with the other half)

Check if the waves installer has an uninstaller, if not, track the files with spotlight. There may be some invisible files too… Here you can see the use of some smart third party uninstaller programs that exists. unsure.gif
