Hello, I have been working very hard on a couple of Pro Tools songs, and have been saving them onto my External Hard Drive. Last night I tried opening one of the files, and it did not work, it kept repeating "Check Disk Allocation" or something similar to that, I hope that my disk has not lost them, if anyone knows how to fix this problem or knows if it is fixable or not please please let me know.

Try to see if this helps. With your system shut down, disconnect your external hard drive firewire and power supply both (make sure your computer is off before you do this). With entire system shut-down, reconnect your hard drive and turn system back on with HD reconnected and turned-on. On occasion, I have to do this to my system where it will recognize my external drive. Until I do this I am dead from opening files. This is a simple suggestion, but sometimes its the easy ones that stump us. if you have another computer you may try it to see if the same problem occurs on both systems. Good Luck!
