Greetings all. You have all helped me so much in the past, so here's another perplexing question...

my system specs:
new white ibook g3
512 Mb ram
Logic 4.8 platinum (just updated from 4.0)
emi 2|6 interface (using easi)

When I go into my audio mixer to add inserts (i.e. reverb, sample delay, etc) they no longer appear. There are no inserts to add. Just a blank grey area (where there used to be drop-down menus to select an effect).

I assumed this was because I had my plug-ins folder in the wrong spot for Logic 4.8 to access it, so i moved it into the Logic 4.8 folder in my HD.

Still no Luck.

This may be simple, but please help.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

take care,
Jennifer

Does the emi 2|6 play/record audio tracks?

Logic's own effects and instruments are built into the program so they don't live in a separate folder.

Try this. Open the Audio page of your environment and select one of your audio track objects. On the left hand side of this page in the parameter box with Icon, Dev Cha, MIDI Cha etc.... what does it show next to "Dev".
Does it show EASI?
Have you set up your EASI driver correctly in "Audio Hardware and Drivers"?

also on this subject, if you're talking about vst plugins not showing up, the vst plugin folder has to be named VstPlugins... rolleyes.gif

Hello All,

My Inserts (built-in effects for audio tracks) are still not showing up as an option to use, even though my EASI driver is set up properly, and the Audio page of my environment displays "EASI" next to "Dev."

Anything else to try?

If i can just get this to work, I would be so content...please help!

thank you again,
jennifer

Have you tried using the ASIO driver?
If so, does that work?

If you haven't, put the ASIO driver in the folder "ASIO Drivers" and then select ASIO as your driver from "Audio Hardware and Drivers" window.
Make sure you have deselected EASI as the driver.
Then restart logic or relaunch Audio engine.

Make sure your Audio tracks are set to ASIO.

If it doesn't work with ASIO you may want to re-install Logic.

Also, you didn't mention whether you can play/record audio with the EASI driver. Do you see any activity in the meters in the mixer window?

One last question, have you turned off any extensions from the extension manager?

One more question!

How much RAM have you assigned to logic?

I have tried using the ASIO driver, yes.
And I have tried EASI, both at different times. I make sure i have deselcted whichever driver i am not using in the "Audio Hardware and Drivers" window.
I then restart logic.
I Make sure my Audio tracks are set to whichever driver I am using.

I can play/record using EASI, but when recording, the levels are SUPER low, like something isn't working correctly (even when I have the levels for whatever sound I am inputting up very high)
I see very very little activity in the meters in the mixer window.

All the correct extensions are on...

???
weird huh.

Thanks for great advice,
Jennifer

PS : I dont remember how much RAM i have assigned, but I will have to check. Last time I remember it was the suggested/preferred amount.

Thanks again,
Jen

I have 300000K assigned to logic so don't worry about assigning more than the suggested size.

Also try removing your logic preferences from the system folder when logic is not running. then start logic.
