QUOTE (Mac Daddy @ mer 22 nov 2006, 18:23) ATTENTION FORUM ADMINISTRATOR........ ATTENTION FORUM ADMINISTRATOR
SERIOUS PROBLEM-SERIOUS PROBLEM-SERIOUS PROBLEM-SERIOUS PROBLEM
Before I get an iFoot or iPunch I recieved an E-mail from a 440 Forum Member asking for my help with an ADMINISTRATION problem. I've got email, I've got PMs, there's dedicated sub-forums for this, some of them you don't even have to be a verified member to post especially for this reason. It's not like we are unreachable. And I guess already what the problem is… QUOTE Dear Mac Daddy,
I need your help? I have not been able to receive my daily posts by email from the forum for about 4 months now. When I noticed that I was not receiving daily emails from MacMusic, I visited the web site and logged in. As soon as my log in was accepted, the screen message told me that my email address must be changed because it no longer worked. I'm sure he's using an AOL email address, bad idea. The webmaster told me on the phone yesterday, it's not that we don't answer, it's AOL which is filtering us as spam. solution: use an email address from a email service which does _know_ its job. G-mail, hotmail, yahoo work perfectly to name a few. As long as these idiots at AOL are going to filter our mails as spam, there's no issue save this one. Now if I was going to make this news on this as I have to since yesterday evening when I knew about the issue… QUOTE ATTENTION FORUM ADMINISTRATOR........ ATTENTION FORUM ADMINISTRATOR
Please look into this problem... if not I will continue to Post this message "EVERYDAY". Thank for your help. And you'll end up with warnings and a ban in the end, ONE in the RELEVANT FORUM is ENOUGH. There's 2 forums for: general forum help, bugs and shit like this one. Use them, please. Mac daddy, you're a cool guy, but I'd like one day that you'd be able to post new threads or subjects in their relevant sub-forums… Really. We endure spam in these subforums especially because of such issue you repot: so that people who have connection problems can report even if their registration failed (because of the email for example) tell the guy to use another mail provider as I gave some, and it'll be ok. To all: AOL sucks, and I mean it!

FINALLY!
Thank YOU Mac Daddy, my other Brother, for your help in resolving my email (AOL) problem. I'd been struggling with this issue for too long.
And to the Forum Admins, yeah? So AOL sucks. I've got a different perspective. With all respect to this wonderful web site and informative forum, AND please keep in mind that I find it so valuable, to beat this dead horse for 4 months, I received NO reply or solution on your web site or through contacting your forum administrator by email.
If AOL starts blocking macmusic.org emails, what's wrong with the forum administrator using a more personal email address to correspond with me as to what the problem is? He or she could go to yahoo.com and pick up a free temporary email address also? And then just email me and tell me how to fix my account? I received NOTHING.
On your web site, after the log in page that first relates the problem, why not include the information there? Explain that a new email account, with "other than AOL", subscription needs to be set up BEFORE you attempt to change your email address. Because once you attempt to change your email address (using another AOL address, who knew that they're the problem?), you end up in a vicious loop of never receiving the validation email and your account and priviledges are always "PENDING VALIDATION". And then, YOU CAN NEVER CHANGE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS on that first error page of the web site log in. I couldn't post, I could not send a pm, nor email anyone from the forum. I could not do anything, but cry in frustration and miss my Forum.
I had to set up a whole new account with the yahoo email, but it works. yeah!
OK, I'm done.
Mac Daddy, thank you again for your support. Yes, you went over the edge for me. But over the edge is how we music lovers live.

And btw, I email AOL EVERYDAY to let them know that MacMusic and the 440 Forum is not spam.
(I had even turned all of my spam filters off, while struggling to get my validation. It didn't work. And my emails from the Forum never showed up in a spam folder on my AOL email accounts?
But my new Yahoo email also puts my Forum subscription emails in the spam folder...
If I pay for postage?....
LOL

Hey formerly jce44! The problem is, how can you be sure the eventual email either from me or the webmaster (who struggled with this from day one, I only heard about it this week) BUT using a non MM or 440forums domain emails would be leggit? the webmaster answered you each time but the mail couldn't reach you, and how can you be sure it's him if it's not on his leggit address… (head and wall having fun together…) This is an issue we have to care about too, there's real spam and phishing too out there… Also, if you saw the complete list of members using AOL email addresses, you'd be horrified… On my next meeting with the webmaster (or phone call) we'll look about it as it can't go on like this. Yahoo is not perfect, but at least less of a problem than AOL… On my own, I make myself my spam filtering, as else half my mailing lists subscriptions end in the bin. One thing I've still to understand is why don't you have your jce44 account back?

To set things clear, as AOL IS the problem, NO AOL email should be used… jce44 is still with AOL jce44 email. Create another email, and recover your account. We don't like to dive into the databases to change these things because it's really ugly down there and the most secure way to deal changes is that members do them themselves. The only thing that is shameful for us is that it took so much time before I've been in the know as it's been on the webmaster problem list for months and he forgot to tell me before (we are both too busy Just thinking about the mass of AOL members registered just scare me…
