I'm wondering if anyone can advise me how to configure my I/O settings for Mbox 2. I have the book Pro Tools LE 7 Ignite! but the author only demonstrates how to configure the I/O settings for his system, which utilizes a lot of synths and a Digi 002. There isn't enough about the theory behind I/O configuration for me to figure out what I should do in my case.

I have an iMac G5, 1.8 mHz, running Tiger.

So far I have managed to record vocal tracks using a mic and guitar tracks running direct through the Mbox by setting up a "Path 1" in the I/O settings.

How do I set up the settings so I could do two tracks at once of drums, one miking the overhead/snare and one miking the kick drum?

Has anyone here configured the I/O settings for their PT LE and Mbox 2 and can tell me what they did?

I'm more of a rock/pop musician than an electronic musician. I'm more likely to be recording guitars, vocals, drums, percussion, sax, etc. although I do plan to get a MIDI keyboard controller when funds allow.

Thanks.

alexbutterfield, i'm not sure which is the point;
for my MBox2 I/O Setup i have patched the inputs 1 & 2 to a preamp/compressor and i just named the path '1/2 Analog'; i use this to record guitar/bass/vocal/keys, but you can use it for drums too (for which you better use a condenser mic for the overhead/snare -with the 48V button pushed- and a dynamic mic for the kick drum); for the second digital path, which i called '3/4 Digital', i patched a digital rca cable to my digital interface which is connected both to the G5 digital output (i use this to route Digital Performer outputs to Pro Tools digital inputs 3/4), and the digital output of an M-Audio firewire interface (which i use to route the analog input for my Line6 Echo Pro);
so, with this setup i can use both MBox2 analog 1/2 and digital 3/4 inputs at the same time;
last i saved this I/O Setup configuration as 'My Setup', so i can have this by default for every new Pro Tools 7 session.
hope this may help.

Create new tracks from file menu.

In the mix window, make sure that the first tracks input is set to input 1 or L
the other track sould be set to Input 2 or R

note:
the input selction should be above the panning and fader controls.

the outputs for both should be 1/2
