I bought the One Technologies HighFly with the Oxford911 chip and IBM HDs. If you buy LaCie you pay an extra €100 for design, so I´m sticking with grey

I am not a big fan of Lacie drives... had a few in past and always seemed to run into bad blocks usually right after the warranty ran out. I have heard some other complaints as well. I decided to go with a Glyph to use with my Digi001 and love it. Plus I like the support options offered from Glyph and from Sweetwater where I purchased it. Good combo for drive purchases. But I also realize that a person can save $$$ by just looking for fast and cheap drives and stuffing them into an enclosure but I wanted to make sure I was gonna get support in case of failure.

QUOTE (damann @ Jul 31 2002, 03:04) i find firewire too slow (well, only a bit), for audio. my firewire drive has the latest firewire to ide bus, surely, the best idea is to have your sequencer on a different drive to your audio, and both of these should be non-firewire drives. Ditto what Damann says. Firewire is still very unreliable. Many users have encountered issues using these...and the price... I would only recommend them for storage purposes or when you need to take your drive to another studio...otherwise it's IDE 7200r, all the way...cheap, reliable... what else can you ask for?... Just my humble opinion... -------------------- |

Thanks for all of this good insight. I'm learning a lot. What exactly is a sequencer?
