Roland Vsr-880 Problems, OMS Options

I have a vsr-880 I am trying to hook up to my mac 8500/120 that is running os8.6. I have performed a clean install and have installed the latest oms. Oms doesn't seem to want to see it.
I have tried to custom configure also. Tried 2 different midi interfaces, both printer and modem ports. I want to run it under Logic VS which it shipped with. Have read and followed their readme about oms also. Have deleted the prefences files and started from scratc a couple of times.

Any wisdom out there?
If you are running this combination It might help me to know
what machine and os are you using...
