Has anyone experienced an on-goinng problem with their presonus firebox effecting their powerbook. I'm refering to a high pitch squeel that others have reported a well as the computer making a sound similar to high activity, almost like the sound of downloading or searching for files. This wasn't an inicial problem but i have undergone several software updates as well as a lot of internet activity an now it has become very distracting. Any thoughts?

I have the same problem.. its something to do with grounding ?!?

Try this: Take out your powersupply - does the noise stop - if it does then thats it its to do with grounding?!?!

Annoying - i think you have to buy some special things but what i do is pull my powercord out but place it in ever so slightly and then it charges but doesn't make the noise..

BTW I have a powerbook too!

Yeah, I'm having the same issues.
it's a bummer.

I love all that the firebox can do i just hate how spotty it is. sometimes it works really great! other times I want to throw it out the window.

If you have anything plugged into the Mac's built-in audio out, try disconnecting that. It seems that the built-in audio can put a lot of noise onto the ground conductor under some circumstances.

I just bought a presonus firebox 2 days ago. Got it home and got the squeal.
Why hasn't this appeared in any product reviews for the firebox? Or is it just an inconsistent product... some have squeal, some don't?

I can't tell you how bummed I was. I tried all sorts of things. I used the wallwart, then I didn't. I even saw some of the squeal appear as level in both Peak Pro 5 and Soundtrack Pro. I didn't even go as far as Cubase.

No matter what I did, the squeal was there. I couldn't even get the headphones 1/4 way up... the noise was distracting.

So, I brought it back the next day and ordered a Focusrite Saffire. I hope that's an ok solution (although I'd prefer more than 2 ins).

Is the Edirol fa101 or fa66 the way to go, perhaps?
