QUOTE (lepetitmartien @ Jan 25 2006, 00:40) As far as I know, DP is multithreaded for a long time now Or are there specifics on quad I don't know of? (me and my G5 mono 1.8…) Yes, that's what I thought, but DP 4.61 running on my Quad with 8 Gigs of Ram will run out of Ram and CPU even though it's using less than 1/2 of the available CPU power, and 3 or 4 gigs of Ram... So there's a lot of power and ram sittle idle while DP chokes....

Ooops, it means something is fishy… What have they done?????? The basic principles are: - to make use of multiple cores or processors, you develop making sure you have running different threads of actions (multithreading) - the system allocates the cores to threads according to the empty time slots the core have left - everybody lives happy ever after That's the basic. Now maybe MOTU did the same tricks Appl/emagic used in Logic for the CPU monitor, which can't see the 4 cores of the Quad. Now, tell me, when you run DP? Is it using the 2 cores of the first CPU or the first core of each CPU?
