I have a Powerbook G3 running MacOs X. I just purchased a Griffin imic as I read great reviews. I'm receiving a very small signal through it, with much "humming" in the background.

there's a button somewhere if I remember, it'll set the preamp on… wink.gif

The hum you hear is because the mic is not amplified, you raise the level the hard way and so the high level of noise just goes upper.

Note that iMics to be more usable (more options, better sound, less noise) need a commercial driver… (see link in our software tracker up this page).
