I have a need to make original recordings and store them in MP3. I need my equipment to be portable and small. I have a large library of minidisk recordings and I want to continue with that format if possible.

The new Sony Minidisk recorders seem very appropriate EXCEPT
* no Macintosh software
* even the PC software won't let me import my original recordings to the computer (something to do with copyright protection schemes)

So. What are people using?

Thanks,
Maggie Hettinger

I personally own a Sony Minidisc recorder ( a deck )

First off, your best bet is www.minidisc.org
Ask someone in their forums...

I know of a few laptops with built-in minidisc drives, but I don't know where you would buy an external one..the website should know.

What I did was have a friend drop it into Cubase... I don't know much about plugging in to a computer, but my mindisk deck has a digital optical in/out, so I would need to get a digital in to coxial converter, and go from there... what computer are you using? this has a lot to do with it.. and also what platform you're using..

hope I helped a little!!
