Hi

I have an IMac G5 and use Reason Software with an M-Audio Oxygen8 midi controller to create music.
All of my music will be created on my IMac, no external instruments or microphones.
I am getting a pair of powered monitors Tapco S5's and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to connect them.
Can I just use the headphone jack and get a mini-jack to RCA lead? Or do I need an audio interface?

Any help much appreciated.

The headphone out will also function fine as a line out for your speakers. Just don't expect run of the mill computer headphone outs to have the same performance and fidelity as a dedicated stand alone digital to audio converter.

But I certainly think that's a purchase you can put off while you get the comfortable on the rest of your rig.

Thanks Scott

How much of a difference would a seperate DAC make?

If I got a cheap audio interface like the Behringer FCA202, would it be an improvement on the IMac's audio out?

Or would I need to spend a lot more on an audio interface to hear a difference?

Thanks
