hi ediddy
Your keyboard choice whould depend on the music you create. What is your type/style of music?

Hi, I am not realy too clued up on hip hop but for your price range and best quality you should look into a Moog www.moogmusic.com/
If its versitiliy your after something like a korg triton www.korg.co.uk/products/workstations/triton_le/ws_triton_le.asp . I dought the sound will be underground enough and there's not a lot you can do on this that your mpc cant do.
