Ok my budget is @$250 max and need semi-weighted keys with some true poly-sounds embedded. I am looking for some good string and D&B sounds to complement some finishing touches i have before my final mix down. I have seen the expensive and Roland Korg lines, and the low range Studiologic's, but will this give me the bang for the buck ? It also needs to be 88 keys with hopefully a MIDI thru option.

thanks for your input

Unless you troll ebay, I don't think you'll find a synth for $250. There are some great 'midi controllers' out there for that price, but few have 88 keys, and controllers don't have their own patches. If you want something with 88 weighted keys, and onboard sound you can expect to pay a lot more than $250. Good Luck

yea, I did the ebay thing but the models I want are either outdated or have "minor" problems. I may go with ZZsounds Studiologic TMK88 88-semi weighted Key MIDI Controller for $199.00. Of course this doesn't come equipped with a good sound kit, but I may just rely on the built in plug-ins for this, unless they kick in a cheap sound module.

The M-Audio 88 is a great keyboard (controller only) for just under $200.00.

The M-88 spec doesn't specify if the keys are full size. Can anyone comment on this ?
StudioLogic has full size keys, although I would get the wheel.

Yes, full size keys and very nicely weighted. Usb 2.0 hookup and never a problem.

I bought the M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 and had to return it. It does not have aftertouch! How you can call this a 'Master MIDI controller' is beyond me.

The m-audio 88 key is just a key layout for midi instruments, nothing more. The new CME line has , semi-weighted, alluminum chassis, firewire, breath controller, 9 faders/knobs, aftertouch, and is still AFFORDABLE !!!
