bonnne chance;

Pour fii-nir voici une copie du post (en anglais trouvé sur apple.com):

Posts: 5 Ok Guys,

I do have a solution to this which I have worked out today - it's not pretty or elegant, but it should get you back to where you were without ruining all your iTunes. - basically, my problem seems to be that Apple have written QUICKTIME v7 that doesn't appear to work with Protools hardware - well done them!!!! After lots of investigation, I determined that iTunes 4.9 hangs calling part of the Quicktime framework whilst polling the Digidesign CoreAudio hardware (by comparing samples from Activity Monitor from my Protools enabled G5 with my non-Protools Powerbook which works with iTunes 4.9 and QT7 just fine). The reinstallation that Apple have supplied doesn't seem to completely get rid of QT7, hence the problem with iTunes still remains, even when overwriting with iTunes 4.7.1.

So, the (rather convoluted) solution is as follows;

Download and Install the QT 6.5.2 REINSTALLER from this site!

Get an application called Pacifist from the Charlesoft website and install charlessoft.com/

get the original Quicktime652 Install package (not the reinstaller) at macmusic.org

Install Quicktime652 using Pacifist. I had to do this several times, each time when it asks whether to leave a file or replace it, click REPLACE. This has to be done for EACH file (don't click "don't ask this again). I know it's a pain, but it seems to be the only way to make it work).

Verify the package. I was unable to eliminate all checksum errors, but I got most of them. If you are unsure, go into Applications/Utilities/Terminal, and delete the relevant files manually (terminal uses standard UNIX commands - CD is change directory, LS is list directory, RM is remove file. If you are unsure of this, DON'T ATTEMPT IT).

# ** Now make a backup copy of your iTunes library (just in case) ***

Then download the iTunes 4.7.1 package (this is still on the apple website at apple.com. Use Pacifist to install this too in the same way as above. I had to manually delete quite a bit of the 4.9 version to get it to install cleanly (particularly iTunesHelper). Again, when you verify you will still get a few checksum problems, but I installed individual files a few times, just to make sure (even though they still wouldn't verify)...

Having done all this (and it's taken me the best part of a day to work all this out), you should have KILLED any trace of Quicktime 7 or iTunes 4.9, so REBOOT.

Click iTunes and if you are lucky, you will be presented with your iTunes library and it will work just as before!!!! I wouldn't recommend accepting the upgrade to 4.9 when it asks you!

I'm planning to DELETE Quicktime and never use it again!!!!

Thanks Apple (for all your help in solving this)!

best of luck with this...
