Unless you must have the newest system available... I suggest not going past Panther. Tiger IMHO doesn't really offer enough to make it worth while to upgrade for average person and there are some issues like loss of airport signals and few other things that plagues Tiger depending on machine.

Hello Nels,

About a month ago I upgraded to Tiger and I downloaded all the drivers necessary from MOTU. No problem. I am running DP 4.52, LIVE 4.1.2 and PEAK 4.14 (new version for Tiger) as my main apps.
I have several "hard synths", and several "soft synths" including MOTU's MachFive and MX4. All are running fine on my G5. Hope this Helps.

As Synthetic said there are a few issues that can be really annoying for some people, there's the freeze bug when using full screen openGL for example too.

Now 10.4.2 is in the pipeline (beta since friday) so some issues will be set right this time or another. The missing software is more of a problem… Like Protools LE. blink.gif

As we says in French: "it is urgent to wait" laugh.gif cool.gif

Now if all you're software is tiger compliant, and you don't use airport or fullscreen OpenGL for example… But have a panther clone handy just in case anyway wink.gif

Thanks guys,

So glad I asked. ....Sure, the upgrade could be a smooth one, as in Dan010's case, but then again, NOT. And we all know what a bummer it is to have to go through that pesky trouble-shoot process after an early/hasty update blonder. Getting kicked in the groin, by comparison, is a much finer experience. ...Glad it worked out for you though, Dan010.

Soooooo, I think for the moment I'll take the majority's advice and wait till more of Tiger's bugs get work out.

Once again, saved by the good people within these virtual walls. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Cheers!!!!!!! rolleyes.gif
