The Hardware: Powerbook G4 with 1ghz Processor and 1gig of ram, Mobile Pre USB , One stereo mic (sony)

The Software: Peak and/or Soundstudio

The Problem: While recording live off the floor sounds cutting out. Sometimes just for a second...sometimes longer. I have tried both increasing and lower the latency rate but it doesn't seem to help much. Last night instead of cutting out...the sound started to skip like a scratched CD.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Are you recording to the powerbook hard drive? If so, do you know which model is it?

It's a 4200 rpm drive, VERY slow, the droppouts can be only the times the OS has to search data on the drive and the drive can't follow sad.gif

It's better to have a firewire hard drive, 7200 rpm for the audio when you have a powerbook. cool.gif Now It can be something else but it's an evident cause for me IMHO. cool.gif unsure.gif
